Porridge Club mentoring events
Today's job market is a topic we wanted to help influence — through young people. For many young people, the first steps into working life feel distant. A lack of experience, confidence, or networks can hinder progress — and often, the pressure to perform leaves little room for learning.
At Hobo, we are deeply involved in creative industry communities as active contributors, and now we want to channel that energy, along with our knowledge and contacts, to benefit young people — by offering a space to grow, gain experience, and learn from mentors we've gathered from our community.
We’ve received funding for our holiday season charity project “We Stir, They Rise,” which will be carried out in two parts. From November 19 to December 19, we’ll be serving a rice porridge buffet during afterwork hours, with half of the proceeds going directly to the youth organization Aseman Lapset ry.
Alongside the buffet, we’re organizing four weekly Porridge Club “Puuroklubi” mentoring events, and we’d love to invite young people to join. We’ve curated speakers who are top professionals in their fields, and our goal is to create a relaxed and safe space where we offer practical advice and tips from the following industries, events always starting at 17:00:
Nov 19 – Event Production (Helsinki Pride, festivals, small creative events)
Nov 26 – Food & Restaurant Industry (Food art, restaurants, wine import)
Dec 3 – Visual Arts (Video/photography, styling, graphic design)
Dec 10 – Music Industry (Independent artists, DJs, radio, record labels)
All four events are free to attend, and we’ll also be serving rice porridge to participants. However, we kindly ask everyone to register in advance via this link.
The events will be in Finnish.
